Year 2 visited St Andrew's Church at Stanley and took part in the Christmas Journey.
They travelled back in time to see Mary in her home making bread. The Angel Gabriel came with a message from God. Next they visited the shepherds in the fields near Bethlehem. Then they travelled following the star to the stable where baby Jesus was born. Finally they visited a king's palace and saw the gifts gold, frankincense and myrrh.

We tested different types of paper to see which was the most absorbent. To keep the test fair we used squares of paper that were the same size and we measured 10ml of water each time.
We set up a fair test to investigate which materials were waterproof. We used the same amount of water in each test and left it on the material for the same amount of time.
We explored the BBC famous people website to find out about Florence Nightingale. We also tried the interactive game about Scutari Hospital. We came dressed as famous people from history to start our new topic 'Superheroes'. We had a parade in the classroom and each person shared some information about their historical figure.
Year 2 worked with Tim Hall on a series of challenges that required team work, positive attitude and not giving up. They learnt that everyone has skills and talents.
Today we worked in teams to complete a challenge where we had to design a packaging for our masks. We chose the best design idea from our team then we had to make a set amount of packaging by a deadline. Mrs Hopper judged how well we worked as a team and she also checked that each one was made properly.
